Projects - Newmills Hydro Scheme

As a celebration of 210 years of water power at newmills a new turbine has been installed to utilise the entire fall on the site, 10m, and produces 10kWe of power for the factory, offices and dwelling house on-site. This hydro electric scheme uses the innovative ' Hydropak' concept turbine design.
The project was supported by Action Renewables and Northern Ireland Electricity.
The project is open to all for visits to demonstrate the latest developments in micro hydro.
